Bokashi Bran's remarkable journey began when we emerged victorious in the Zero Waste Cities Challenge, a testament to our innovative approach and commitment to positive change. This achievement paved the way for the Food Waste Entrepreneur Training programme, a visionary initiative aimed at training enthusiastic entrepreneurs in the art of converting food waste into compost and nurturing thriving vegetable gardens.
The significance of this endeavour cannot be overstated, as it directly addresses the pressing issue of food waste and its environmental impact. By diverting food waste from landfills and transforming it into valuable compost, Bokashi Bran is not only minimising pollution but also contributing to a circular economy. This aligns seamlessly with the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals, specifically ticking off an impressive 13 out of the 17 goals.
Last week marked another milestone in this remarkable journey as Bokashi Bran, in collaboration with the CSIR and with the invaluable support of Black Umbrellas and the Nedbank Foundation, successfully concluded yet another training session. The programme, meticulously designed to blend theoretical knowledge with hands-on practical site visits, ensures that participants are well-equipped to lead the charge in their communities.
