An online platform designed for Kaelo Health, powered by RecoMed, reimagines access to medical care for South Africans.
A simplified online booking process for Kaelo Health policyholders. Policyholders can now schedule virtual appointments with healthcare practitioners
RecoMed, a South African health tech innovator, has partnered with Kaelo Health, a low-cost health insurance provider, to provide easy and convenient access to virtual healthcare from a central platform. The solution allows individuals to access an online booking system to schedule a telehealth consultation.
The platform significantly lowers the cost of self-care for patients. The solution allows the healthcare practitioner to curate a series of screening questions for the patient to work through ahead of a consultation. As a result, the practitioner can guide a patient more efficiently during the online appointment.
Telehealth consultations offer a unique opportunity to improve access to care by expanding geographical reach as well as the patient’s choice of primary healthcare provider. At the click of a button, patients can book, consult, and ask a healthcare practitioner questions.
Health insurance is a vastly different product from medical aid in that it offers certain medical services at a cost-effective point, making private healthcare accessible for more South Africans. It is a fresh alternative to managing healthcare needs that is often more flexible in pricing than traditional medical aid schemes.
“Our mission is to provide quality and affordable healthcare that significantly improves the lives of all South Africans,” explains Dr Arianna Alletzhauser, Head of Clinical Operations at Kaelo Health. “As a provider of low-cost health insurance products, we wanted to create a platform that would allow patients to consult with a healthcare provider online, a way of extending access to primary healthcare services. Collaborating with RecoMed has allowed us to reimagine this vision on a greater and more innovative scale.”
“We’re pleased to be able to power the technology behind Kaelo’s innovative patient platform that effectively lowers the cost of primary healthcare” comments Sheraan Amod, CEO at RecoMed.
“Use of the platform is growing” concludes Alletzhauser from Kaelo Health. “We are excited to leverage this as an opportunity to ensure more people gain access to virtual medical advice and primary healthcare services.”
